Russia: a hundred year old photographs surface

Before the Russian Revolution and the First World War, time was being patient in Russia. Life was staying still. Photographer Sergei Mikhaliovich Prokudin-Gorskii, under the permission of Tzar Nicholas the second, took a series a photographs of the Russian Empire during 1909 and 1912. In a quick succession he captured black and white photographes using red, blue and green filters and then recombined and projected them in other to give us a glimpse of life in Russia nearly a 100 years ago.
